How Can We Help?
Dev notes for Forbes sites
Design General comments:
- Make design slightly smaller than design file
- When there is a text and image section, I would like different ways to display this vs just putting the two items next to each other. Adding different background shapes, patterns, colors, blocking, etc.
- Add some slight movement throughout the site – not too much but a couple of basic animations where it makes sense – make sure if animations are added to be consistent throughout the site
Text
- More contrast in font parts and text styles/sizing
Buttons
- Would like to add more styling to these for different sites
- Sizing of buttons smaller with the text not running too close to the edges. Keeping more space within the buttons,f
Blogs
- Left align search
- Keep blog images/text smaller
Media Page
- Keep Downloads, videos modules smaller
- Download buttons should download to browser
- Podcasts Module set up – Image, the title of podcast, date, source, button. example: https://gyazo.com/f6fc2a60e8384c67df720c0d5842b918
- Media links: Would like to change how this is displayed between each site. Some list horizontally, vertically, in a grid view in boxes, hover effects, icons, etc. to match the style of the rest of the website
Interior Headers
- Keep them on the thinner side
Book Page
- always add Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, and BAM logos
Forms
- add recaptcha on all forms
Blog pages:
- client really likes this design https://merlesymes.com/the-urgent-need-for-transformational-change/ can we make this the standard on sites going forward- she likes the title on the left and image on the right design
- Media force download new rules bottom!
for your awareness since you work on Forbes the most, we updated the template to include a press page. The page includes a CPT named Press, added via ACF, two listings added via Divi Filtergrid, and the posts link externally using the Page Links To plugin. – https://template.sites.forbesbooks.com/press/
Forbes PM mentioned that the media/press links section tends to have issues with the columns, posts start stacking on top of each other. Support identified the issue and noted it below:
Divi FilterGrid Module
- The module has two incompatible settings: number of columns and item widths. After you define the number of columns, e.g. 4, make sure to set the item widths in proportion to the calculated width of each item in the grid (100% / number of columns).
- This prevents the items from getting wider than the calculated width, and result in the grid items stacking.
- Ideally, this should be fixed by the plugin developer (https://diviplugins.com/downloads/divi-filtergrid/), by limiting the context of the item width to be in relation to the calculated width, instead of in relation to the entire column width.
Download Free Chapter Form – Spam Confirmation text should be added
